Soleil Life
Directed by Davis Haymes
Director's Note:
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to this performance of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. The cast and crew is eager to share with you this riveting and suspenseful story. Our company has met once a week since the beginning of this calendar year, and each of the students has poured many hours into this process. Some students should be mentioned in particular, as they joined the company later in the process. Ms. Mila Gregory joined us in February as Mrs. Rogers, and Isabel Everett joined us as Ms. Emily Brent at the beginning of May. I'm very thankful for these incredible actors who were willing to take on this challenge!
The students at Homeschool Plus have always yearned to be challenged. Last year's production of Our Town was my first time working with them, and I held them to a standard of excellence, which they rose to quite nicely. After sharing with them multiple college level acting practices and techniques, they wanted a production that would give them the opportunity to use these new skills. This story provides them a playground of infinite chances to make their own choices and create the world of Soldier Island for themselves, which I have encouraged throughout this process.
As a Christian Director and Theatre Teacher, it is my mission to ensure that my students are equipped to handle material in a Christ-centered and healthy manner. We do not shy away from difficult topics. Rather, if the chance arises to address a challenging subject matter, it is my intention to show the students that portraying flawed characters in a flawed world is part of the responsibility of the Christian performer.
I hope that you enjoy witnessing the fruits of their labor! We offer this, and all of our work to God and His Glory.
